Week 2-January 19th
In the second week, our team was made and we started ideating story ideas and finding inspiration for the animation style.
Week 3-January 26th
We continued iterating through story ideas but started following the Freytags pyramid to consider the story's plot points. As a team, we voted on the story concept based on cloud people which was the most interesting both in visuals and story plot.
Week 4-February 2nd
Kate and Isabelle wrote a script and logline during week three that matched the story concept that the team agreed upon. Each team member searched for precedent art online and started drawing character and environment designs.
Week 5-February 9th
The team continued to sketch more drawings for the character and world while also creating models that would be used in the film.
Week 6-February 16th
The team decided on roles for certain members. Kate worked on the storyboard and narration, Stin worked on character modelling and rigging while Jacob, Isabelle and Arousha worked on molding objects and the salon building.
Week 7-February 23rd
During the reading break each team member worked on their role from week 6. Kate was finishing up the storyboard, Stin was modelling the characters while Isabelle, Arousha and Jacob worked on modelling items.
Week 8-March 1st
For the animatic we divided roles to make sure the work was done evenly, Isabelle placed all the models into one scene, Arousha did the animation, and Kate put all the animatic clips together with sound. Stin continued to work on rigging the characters and figuring out the physics on the hair.
Week 9-March 8th
Stin continued rigging the characters and modelling the hair styles. Isabelle finished the overall town/salon scene with all of the models and Arousha worked on animating the characters and camera for the animatic. Once all the clips were completed Kate started arranging all the clips in order with sound.
Week 10-March 15th
During this week the team worked on updating the models from the animatic to be used for the final. While Stin worked on fixing body rigging issues, Arousha and Jacob helped finish some of the hairstyles. Kate and Isabelle worked on creating new models to fill up the world and make it visually interesting.
Week 11-March 22nd
This week Isabelle finished placing all the new models into the world, Arousha finished the exterior and interior lighting, Kate explored colour ideas for the character's hair, Jacob helped finish the fire effect and Stin finished the face riggs. The team divided all the shots into 5 scenes and assigned roles for the next 2.5 weeks to complete the animation.
Week 12-March 29th
In the first week of animating the team started planning out their individual shots while also managing other assignments.
Week 13-April 5th
In the second week of animating the team was finalizing the animations and started rendering the shots. The members shared their individual rendered shots to get feedback which was iterated on and fixed for the final project.
Week 14-April 12th
During this week the team worked on quickly finishing the individual scene animations and starting to render the clips through individual or school computers. As it was getting close to the end of the project the team worked quickly on finishing the last animation tasks while dealing with other classes.
Week 15-April 19th
In the last week the team focused on post-production work from editing the video, sound and also any 2D effects we wanted to incorporating from the drawn on illustration to the title/ending animation before submission.
